#Freezin’ for a Reason Polar “Plunge” to Support SOMI

February 18, 2021

Local Architects and Construction firms team up with Gaines and Byron Township Public Safety Professionals and Special Olympics Michigan to take the 2021 Virtual Polar Plunge!

(Byron Center, Mich) –2020 was tough for everyone, including the athletes at SOMI, as all in-person events were canceled. Our team is excited to support the athletes in 2021 and the future home of the new Special Olympics Michigan Center for Unified Sports and Inclusion located in Byron Township!

Mathison | Mathison Architects, Fishbeck and Honor Construction, along with the Cutlerville Fire Department, Dutton Fire Department, Byron Township Fire Department and the Kent County Sheriff Department are asking you to help us reach our fundraising goal of $50,000!  A Cutlerville Fire Department fire engine will be “plunging” our team at the new SOMI building at 160 68th St SW in Grand Rapids, MI on Sunday, Feb 28 at 4pm!

We know we can reach our goal to support the athletes with you support!  Support our team by donating!  Safety is our priority. Our event will remain outdoors, masks will be on and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Donating is fast, easy, and secure… and you can be sure that it will benefit these amazing athletes!

Donate today to our team, Freezin’ for a Reason!

The annual Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Polar Plunge is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), raising more than $1 million dollars each year.
