Ben Rambadt is an architect at MATHISON | MATHISON ARCHITECTS.
Ben's experience in architecture has been in commercial and institutional projects. He is inspired by architecture that creates space at various levels of scale: macro down to the micro scale that draws you into the experience; exploring the small moments hidden within the overall design.
Ben grew up in a family of 10 on a small hobby farm in West Michigan. There was never a dull moment and no shortage of things to repair or build.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, his career began in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids with a local firm.
His involvement on the Board of AIA Grand Rapids further engaged him with the professional design community. During that time he organized a lecture series that showcased local firms, their community engagements and design philosophies.
He views MMA as an innovative firm and was intrigued by their attention to detail, bold architectural gestures, and the style of materials used in projects, all with a sensibility of design. In addition to MMA’s great design culture, their focus on team and family had a true resonance for Ben.
When he's not working, Ben enjoys time with his young family going to state parks, mountain biking, downhill skiing, and at the beach at Lake Michigan. He has enjoyed volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and being a mentor with GRPS students at Innovation Central.
