Brent DeKryger
Brent is an architect at MMA. Throughout his 12-year career, he has focused on residential, commercial, and installation architecture, designing and detailing how elements work together in unique and thoughtful ways.
Brent attended Lawrence Technological University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 2010, and his Master of Architecture with distinction in 2013. During his time at Lawrence Technological University, he focused on digital fabrication technologies; creating installation architecture; full scale prototypes; parametrically designed slip cast ceramics; and various art pieces.
Brent values the way a place, including the people, architecture, and stories created, can shape us for either a short period of time, or over the course of a lifetime. Being a part of helping to shape these interactions is very fulfilling to him, and he takes on even the smallest projects with a contagious enthusiasm.
Drawn to unique and modern design, combined with innovative sustainable and collaborative design approaches, Brent is a natural fit for MMA. He is passionate about creating strong, meaningful architecture in his hometown of Grand Rapids and beyond.
When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, being around water, listening to live music, building, woodworking, fishing, homebrewing, and board games.
