MMA Loves West Michigan Design Week


MMA is excited to be participating in West Michigan Design Week again this year. Last year MMA had a model of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Viewing Park & Pavilion project in a gallery at the UICA. Airport Viewing Park: The Steel is Set!


  The steel for the pavilion is set at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport viewing park and pavilion! Standing underneath the structure, you really start to get a sense of the enclosure and the framed view of the runways and landscape. The experience of standing inside the nonlinear ‘forest of columns’ is exciting and provides the sense of wonder and meandering that we were after. On November 21 we installed a model of the Airport Viewing Pavilion project near the baggage claim at the airport. The next time you visit the airport be sure to check it out! “Build Imagination” Book Collection on Architecture Presented at Munson Hospital Cowell Cancer Center


Patients at Munson Hospital Cowell Cancer Center now have the opportunity to enjoy a new collection of books during their stay, thanks to a donation from the Rae Dumke Fund of the Michigan Architectural Foundation (MAF). With help from the Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham, Rae Dumke, Hon. AIA, will be presenting the Build Imagination collection, a set of 100 books on topics that help foster children’s imaginations and raise awareness about architecture, to five children’s hospitals and cancer centers around the state. Airport Viewing Park Ground Breaking


Grand Rapids, Mich. – It’s a favorite spot for aviation enthusiasts, families, and photographers, and now the Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GFIA) Viewing Park is getting a makeover. GFIA, in partnership with the Cascade Community Foundation (CCF), broke ground today on the Airport Viewing  Park Project, a $1.12 million renovation that will add a pavilion, permanent restrooms, new seating areas, expanded parking spaces, and more.
